In the meantime I still have the occasional hour or two to spend playing around with some ideas.
I still have yet to post some more early things I've done, including my experimental attempt at an episodic comic. The idea was to play around with CG and PhotoShop to see what sort of imagery I could produce and what sort of look/styles I could generate, as part of my learning journey. I guess it was a way for me to explore whether my tools really had the potential for my long-term Graphic Novel project ambitions.
My little experiment was a "City Of Heroes" (If you're a fan of the Superhero genre you probably know of it) mini-comic ; essentially a bit of fanfic!
I definitely had a lot of fun making it, and learned loads - eventually stumbling on some post-work techniques I know I'll definitely be using a lot in the future.
There wasn't a lot to it - I started off by generating most of the images in CG as a preference but I later found that it was simpler, (and quicker) to substitute in-game
backgrounds where feasible, or where 'setting' elements were not easily reproducable. The finished images were later 'stitched together' using the CBC Comic Book Creator tool.
Its far, far from perfect, and still an on-going experiment, but I can certainly say it was a worthwhile experience.
